I liked Lucky at lot but now he's just....well whatever. He's being dumb-ified so they can have Jason/Liz, which annoys me. He's LUKE AND LAURA'S SON for god's sake, they should care about the character more than this. He's been window dressing for years, and the only story he gets is about how he's going to lose his wife to Saint Jason. Barf.
And I now hate Liz. LOL.
But maybe if JJ does take back this role, they will fix Lucky.

trixie- I know exactly how you feel about missing the time when your missed missing your soaps. A few years ago I was watching 9 soaps (out of 10) on a regular basis. My kids were young and napped for a 2 hour or so block so I caught all the soaps on at the time and watched the others when they ate lunch or on soapnet after they went to bed. Now I follow 5, sort of.... this month, with my kids home all time time I actually go out of my way to watch one (I tape amc and watch it later) and try to catch part of 2 or 3 of the others every few days. I haven't caught more than 5 minutes of OLTL in a week and really could care less. I only manage to follow the other soaps by skimming spoilers or whatever. Even AMC I manage to watch in only 10 min or so, thanks to the ff button. I have no idea what audience soaps are writing for these days, but my assumption is that it isn't an audience I fit into anymore.

I don't think they right for any real audience anymore...I know people across the board age wise and stuff, no one is particularly happy.
I honestly get the impression they write more for themselves. I mean they make some of the stupidest decisions, promote couples no one wants to see together...for what? Not for the audience, that's for sure.

Elana - Well, I guess we're both not in those "saliva dripping, lobotomized, borged-brained, focus group members". I am certainly out of the demographics on EVERY SHOW. Except Lawrence Welk. But I think he's dead. But if not, I digress, anyway. He counted to two very nicely. We're just not welcome, Elana. We're too old, too smart-ass, and too intelligent. And it seems that we're not the only ones as witness to this lovely MB. I guess a three-year-old with Short Attention Span Disorder would be a good focus-group member. And no offense to any three-year-old with Short Attention Span Disorder meant here. (You have to cover your tushie, you know) Oh well. I try to remember the good old days. But WAIT! I CAN'T REMEMBER! So does that mean I qualify for the "Focus Group"?

I agree with this. Particularly with the ABC ones. I'll exclude GH because at least they attack real life event (Aids, teen pregnancy, cancer, drug use), other than that we have ridiculous plot-lines and AMC is always some stupid mystery it revolves around and no one cares. Or else the stories are so out there going NO WHERE that why the hell should the audience care? I just have no patience for bad writing anymore. I will say I do think Y&R is the best written because they are character driven - every other soap plot driven idiocy.

Supposedly the wanted demographic is 18-34 year old women, so I'm technically still in it (just barely, but still in it!!!) But I have a working brain so maybe that precludes me anyway...
I've tried to watch Y&R in the past Meg, I just never could get interested in it.

I couldn't at first and I will say I only catch it of and on, but it's actually a better character driven show. It is really slow however and there have to be characters you like. I admit I had a hard time but then I started watching Nick and Phylis.....

See I don't get it, because I'm right smack in the middle of that demographic and I can't stand the stuff AMC puts out. GH is better but it's not ideal. I tune in and out of it constantly, it never holds my attention for longer than a month at a time. LOL. Usually during sweeps.

Elana - I apologize for sticking you in the same age bracket as myself. I just FORGET HOW FREAKING OLD I AM at times, and like to assume others are in the same boat. Anyways, you are all so young and beautiful. AND SMART! So do I get some donuts now? Or some Karma? Either way, I'm gaining weight.
