Hey, chicks!!!! I've missed ya'll too...I have had a hell of a weekend!! I went to two funerals over the weekend, one on Saturday for a classmate of mine, 33 years old and had a heart attack!!!! About 25 classmates attended his funeral, and we spent some time together catching up and crying over Reggie! The only good thing that has come from Reggie's death is that all of us have decided to get our heads out of our arses and plan a get together (2006 marks 15 years I have been out of school!!) when it warms up here...goes to show you just never know. Then, my life-long friend called me Saturday morning with the news that her step-dad (who had raised her) had died in the night from liver cancer...he was only 65. It has been a tough weekend...makes me glad to be alive, healthy and at work today, checking in with all of you, my favorite cyber-friends!!!

So sorry to hear about your friends Mandie. Both were way too young! Thanks, Platinum...your a sweetheart! My friend's dad had been sick for a while, Hospice had come in for him, but I think he was ready...said all of his goodbyes, he even planned his own funeral. Reggie, my friend from school, went to sleep and never woke up. It is sad, we had a small graduating class, and over the years, we have lost 6 members...3 to car accidents and 3 to natural deaths. It is so disturbing to me, especially the ones that left small children...like I said, you just never know! I am glad to be back on the board today...ready to think of fictional characters and their storylines for awhile...real-life has sucked too bad the last couple of days!

Wow, Madie, I'm really sorry all that has happened! I know how you feel. Today is the 3 year anniversary of when my 12 year old niece collapsed and died. She was laughing and taking pictuers one minute, then fell to the floor. It took 30 minutes to revive her, but by then she was pretty gone. She "lived" for 2 weeks after that at University of Michigan Mott's Children's Hospital, but was gone for good January 31st! It was a horrible time! If you guys have never heard of SADS, check this out. www.sads.orgIt's a heart condition, and her death could have been prevented if they just would have known she had the condition. A pacemaker probably would have saved her.

Oh, Liz...I am so sorry...that is just horrible. I just don't understand the way life works sometime (most of the time, actually), but to lose a child has got to be the equivalent to hell on earth to me. The preacher at Reggie's funeral said "each person has two of their very own occasions in their life: the day of their birth and the day of their death, and chooses neither for themselves"....he encouraged everyone there to cherish everyday you are given, and to hold your loved ones close and let them know everyday how much they are loved. As sad as funerals are, for a good long time after I attend one, my perspective is changed and I make sure everyone I love knows just how much I love them and how important they are to me. Reggie, in his own way, brought alot of his old friends back together Staurday, and we all made plans to get together soon...and he is smiling down on us now. Anyway, I just can't dwell on the saddness...I just give it to God and let Him get me through.

That's really all you can do, Mandie. Our family has experienced a lot of death, so I know what you mean. My brother died on his 25th birthday back in 1991, and my grandma died at my other's brother's (the one who lost his daughter) wedding reception! Those were some bad times, but you can't do anything about it but go on.

Woah, Liz...your family has been through it. I can't tell you how sorry I am for your losses, but I can understand about losing family....I lost my Mother in January 1994 when she was 49 and I was 20. Then in November of the same year, my Nanny died...my Mom's mother. We were very tight, kind of like my Nanny was our second mother!! Both my grandfathers died a month apart in 1987, so all I have left is my dad's mom..fortunately, she is 87 years old and gets around better than I do!!! It is strange, how some families go through so much loss, and some are never touched by it. I consider these people to be extremely blessed. My husband has lost one grandmother that he wasn't very close with, so when I cry about Momma sometimes or when I was crying about Reggie this weekend...he gets this sad, blank look like he has no idea why I am tore to pieces. I guess some people are lucky not to have experienced it, but of course I think my hubby's just a classic case of "ignorance is bliss"...LOL!!!
