Good advice Liz `n Platinum! I do generally resort to non verbal " witty" hand gestures . Flail ... do you have any idea how young & smug you sounded with your age?

Charity- it's so refreshing talking with someone my age with kids my kids's ages too. All the parents at my kids school are SO much older than me its scary. i'm glad to hear that because the parents at kallie's school are a lot older then me. i remember the looks i used to get from the parents like why is this kid here with us. ok - quick story. (oh oh, charity's in a talking mood today) the only thing my family has going for us is we look young. that's it but it's good enough. when kallie was a baby and we were at a grocery store an eldery lady came up to us and was looking at kallie. she was in her infant seat in the cart. she actually lectured me about babies having babies and how wrong it is. she said i couldn't be more then 16 and i have this baby. now i was taught to respect the eldery but she was mean!!!!! i told her it was none of her business but i am (ha ha - was) 22 and if i was 16 it still is none of her business. i hate going to school functions. i love watching her stuff but i hate the looks i get!!!!!

I look older (thanks for the early graying hair mom!) than I am.. but still... my first year at my kids school (which is pre-k through 8th grade) the annual fundraiser party thing had a 60's theme. I was picking up my kids one day and talking with some of the other parents what they would wear to the event (now, all the parents I was talking to had kids either 3 or 4 years old) and two dads were talking about going into their closets to see if they still fit into any of their old 60s clothes!!! I didn't even know what to respond to that!!! On average all the parents are 10-15 years older than me. It's very weird.

gawd - i know how you feel!!!! and trust me - i sure don't look as young as i used to!!!! i'm sure you've seen my pics. but soo many people are having their kids later in life. sometimes i just feel like i don't belong!! 60's clothes in their closet? i might have something from the 90's!!!!!!!!!!! wait - i do have a pair of gap jeans from highschool - they are used and ripped up. if i went to rodeo drive i'd pay $1,000 for pants like those ;D ;D ;D ;D

I started getting greys at 19, but my face still looks young! I blame my mom for my grey hair, too! ;D ;D Also, the parents of the kids at your kids' schhol are 10-15 years older than you are??? Geez! You're my age, right? Still, to be almost 50 and have young kids? NO, THANKS!!

I'm 34. Many of the parents are in their 50s and some in their 60s!! For some this is their second families... others finally had kids or adopted after careers etc got settled.... not only do I feel out of place with their ages, but I also am careerless.

Sorry to say this, but YOU shouldn't feel out of place. First of all, you choose to stay at home to raise your kids. I know how much fun that is! It's great that you are doing that for your kids. Second of all, who would want to be in their 50s and 60s and raising young kids? God, I feel old doing it, and I'm 36. ;D
