so, you all know i've been working on getting my passport renewed. I had one done when i was 13, and i thought i could just have it renewed. So on wednesday i went to the post office to have it done. And the woman was like "well, ya see harr, what we gotta do is done get you a new 'un! cuz it wuz too many yurs ago". So i said "okay, well then i'll just get a new one, not a problem." And then she's like "well, umm, ya gotta have two of those pictures, two of um, of you!" And i said "well last time, i got them done here" and she's like "well, we dun do that no more, ya hafta go down to the mail center down by the hospital". So i said "okay, i'll go get them and come right back." And she said "Well, ya can go get um, but ya won't get back in time cuz we close at noon". So i said "okay, i'll try to make it back in time". So i went over to the mail center, and i had my photos done, and beleive me, the woman working there was even more of a trip than the woman at the passport place. When she took my picture she mumbled soo much, i couldn't understand her. So i thought she told me to smile, so i stood there smiling for like 20 seconds, and she hadn't taken my picture yet, and she kept mumbling. Finally she clearly said "they won't let you smile, quit smiling, it distorts your facial features". So then i took what could only serve as my mug shot should i ever need one, and she charged me 10 bucks for it. Already peeved at the price, i went back to the passport office, and sure enough, they had closed. So this morning i got up to head over there before 12, and when i went in, i talked to a different man. And he said "well, i need to see your birth certificate.". And i said "the woman i talked to yesterday said i didn't need to bring it with me because my old passport can serve as a birth certificate." And he says "which woman told you that?" , and i pointed to her, but she didn't see me. And the man said "Oh great, she's crazy, i don't even want to deal with her. Look, you have to have your birth certificate because you were uunder 15 the last time you had a passport made, so we can't use your old passport." So i said, "alright, i'll go get my birth certificate and come back." But of course, it was 10 till 12 at this point. So he says that i can go to the other office down town, they're open until 4. So i call my dad to ask him where my birth certificate is, and he's all mad because we have so many hurdles to jump through. He says it's in our saftey deposit box at the bank, and he can't go get it till after work. I said fine, i'll meet you at the office at like 3:45, he said fine. So we meet at the post office down town, and the line is out the door because of the new increase in the price of stamps. I wait in line FOREVER, and then when i get up to the woman, she says "sir, you're in the wrong line. The passport line is down there". I was furious! There wasn't even a sign saying that!!! I'd just wasted 20 minutes of my life standing in a pointless line. So then my dad and i get up to the passport guy, and my dad asks him what exactly he needs to get me a new passport. The guy says just the form, my old passport, and the photos. And my dad asked "so we don't need his birth certificate?" And the guy said "no, because he's over 18. the birth certificate only proves that the parents on the passport form are his real parents, but he doesn't need permission from his parents to get one, because he's over 18. " So the man at the other place was wrong, and the crazy lady was right! And we had wasted time, and energy getting this stupid birth certificate out of the bank. Also, when we were in line, this woman jumped ahead and asked the guy if she had left her Discover card there, and he politely looked around and said "no, maybe it's in one of your pockets, i remember giving it to you". and she gets all nasty and says "i've been searching my pockets, and my car, and it's not there. That's why i've come to YOU. i wouldn't have come here before checking my POCKETS!!" And he said "well i'm sorry ma'am, i don't have it". And she stares and says, well you have to!! Fine, i'll just rush home and cancel it!!!" and she stormed out! PEOPLE MAKE ME SOOOOOOO ANGRYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Chilis too!!
Flail, that's an awful couple of days. It seems like everytime we have to renew our drivers license, passports, ANYTHING... there's always a story like this to be told. And the people who work there are so unsympathetic!
So sorry about your experience with the passport people, but at least that's over and done with. Just sit back and stare at a picture of France for a bit and you'll feel better!!
