Okay, in honor of the current (and I must say rather annoying) Josh and Babe storyline I thought we could play the "Desert Island Entertainment Game." If you were stranded on a desert island with Josh and Babe what one movie/dvd would you want to have with you (to sharpen against a rock and kill Babe with)?I have to go with the BBC/A&E production of "Pride and Prejudice." Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy--accept no imitations. It's 200 plus minutes of movie magic with the added advantage that it's on 2 discs so if Babe survived the first attempt you could have a second stab at her. What album/cd would you like to have with you (to sharpen against a rock and kill Babe with)? This one's tough but I'm going to pick U2's "Achtung Baby" because it holds up well to repeated listenings and because the title it just so fitting for the situation. What book would you want to have with you (to sharpen against a rock and kill Babe with)?I'm gonna go with the complete Oxford English Dictionary. It's 20 volumes but technically still one book. You'd have days of reading material and when you finally were rescued you'd have an awesome vocabulary. Just think of all the new words you could use as you explain what happened to Babe.

Good idea LL!!
Movie while I agree that Colin Firth is Mr. Darcy and I think that the BBC Pride and Prejudice is the best version, I would bring the complete set of the LOTR. Love those movies -- and I would be sure to bring the Extended Versions -- 9 hours of entertainment!!
Album The Best of U2 1996 - 2006. LOVE IT.
Book Gone with the Wind. Best. Book. Ever.

I debated between that and P&P. It was a tough call. I have The Best of U2 1980-1990! It's really great too. I'm ashamed to admit this but I've never read nor seen "Gone with the Wind."

Have you ever seen U2 in concert? My husband and I saw them last year, the Vertigo tour. It was AMAZING. Gone with the Wind a great movie and an even better book. I highly recommend both.

I saw them in Kansas City way back in October of 1992 on the Zoo TV tour. I was on a natural high for days afterwards. ;D It was the only "real" concert I've ever been to. I would love to see them again!

Okay, LL! Great Start I'm know I'm not QUITE going into the same frame of mind you guys have, mostly because I don't have 1) a frame, and 2 ) a mind. But my choices are as follow: Movie: Rosemary's Baby (both Josh and Babe REALLY need to see this. Plus I always found this movie applicable to my younger brothers and sisters. It explained a lot. It will explain even more to Babe and Josh) Book: The Illustrated Brief History of Time, Updated and Expanded by Stephen Hawkings. It would give Babe nanoseconds of enjoyment (as it is illustrated. Sorry, Babe, that means there are PICTURES) before she either drowns herself, or I can whack her over the head with it first. And then I could read this myself, thereby guaranteeing I'd fall asleep during this whole bunch of crap. Music/Album: Frank Zappa Meets the Mother of Prevention (Dedicated to KWAK, BABY DAWL and ERICA) Music/Album: Frank Zappa's "Burnt Weeny Sandwich", dedicated to Josh. Just because.

Jonathan could have really used your advice in the NYC Public Library when he knocked Aidan out with whatever whimpy-ass book it was he used. I think Hawkings' book would have been a much more believable weapon.

No kidding, LL - Instead he chose "Nine Years of Introspection" by Julia Santos Keifer Sutherland. Most of the pages were blank. The ones that weren't had the "I's" dotted by little dragon heads with daisy petals surrounding them. No Index No acknowledgements either. Also no page numbers past 9. It was a quick read but still a good book for head bonking.

;D ;D ;D Trixie!! I hear she's writing a second book about nursing in which she spends 3/4 of the book extolling the benefits of proper hydration. What is up with her and the freakin' bottles of water? Do you think if someone had a heart attack or broke their leg she'd just hand them a bottle of water? And Jamie would just stand there looking at her like she was the second coming of Florence Nightingale.

Kelly! I so agree with you regarding the Julia hate! She could give any comic at least NINE YEARS of material. You all SO saw that coming.

BTW - i hate julia as well!!!
movie: probably "Schindler's List" - mainly because Babe wouldn't get it and she'd go away. josh, of course, would follow her so i wouldn't have to hear either of them.
music was harder. most people would be able to stand most music in that situation. josh was raised as the miracle boy and babe was raised as the moonshine girl. i think some BAD BOY BILL is in order!!!!!
book: josh can read but i don't believe babe can. i'd bring "Little Women" - josh can die of boredom (i don't think he'd like it) as he reads it to babe and explains it to her. and babe can hear and maybe learn a little bit about how a lady acts.
