I'm actually a pre-admission nurse. I'm that annoying person that calls you on the phone and makes you go thru your whole medical history. Basically it's my job to make sure everyone gets all the necessary testing to get cleared for surgery. Before that I worked on a surgical floor in a hospital. I worked with transplant patients. good - surgical and pre-admission nurses are fine and wonderful. i've had 2 surgeries, one rough delivery (iv for 3 days and a wonderful cath ) and was hospitaled a couple other times. my last surgery (about a year ago) was for trigger finger (or should i say trigger thumb) pretty bad. and i hate the nurse in the recovery room who woke me up. just cause i started to wake up but was sooo out of it i didn't even realize i had surgery yet i was not in any mood to be woken up. and there is always a nurse pushing me to wake up. i've had that in all my hospital stays and all i want to do is throw something at them to make them leave me alone ;D ;D as a former HUC of an icu/ccu i know why and what's up but grrrrrrr. there is my hospital rant.

I know how much that sucks. All my surgeries have been of the 'drive thru' variety. I was out the door in minutes it felt like. I so do not remember the drives home (someone else driving of course). I have no idea how I changed outta the gown and back into my clothes. But on the other hand I've never slept so good

last year when i had "trigger finger" i had to drive home. i hung out in the gift shop for a while etc. then i ended up driving no more then 30 miles (usually 55mph) with my flashers on!!!
there is nothing worse then them waking me up. one poor lab chic had to draw blood during the night when i was sleeping (with the help of medicine). i pretty much yelled at her. i told her she didn't have to wake me up to take my blood. i felt bad later on when the nurse came in and gave me more medicine!!!!!

You drove yourself home That is very brave cuz I know I couldn't have done that. I just had my 6th throat surgery in March. I think I should get some sorta punch card where the next one's free ;D I always felt bad working night shift. I hated waking people up and tried not to, or at lease grouped things I had to do together so as not to constantly keep going in. I am not a morning person at all so I am very sympathetic.

Yep, I'm cool. I am just the woman with the amazing regenerating tonsils. I've had 4 tonsillectomies, 1 emergency and 1 salivary gland removed. It just sucks b/c the tissue grows back a little bit and then I get an infection that stays in there and won't go away. And b/c of the damn insurance cos.,you have to rack up so many infections before they'll go in and zap the tissue out. But on the up side, that's how I found Hockett and started watching AMC again. I really wish I would seen it since he first came on, but what can you do?

I started watching with my mom when I was about 4. But I got fed up with it and stopped for a few years. Of course that included 2004-2005. I so desperately wish I coulda seen after he came back. I have seen a few clips thanks to a coupla people (a BIG thank you to them ). Maybe it was the pain meds I was on, but I was crushing on him the minute I turned AMC back on

Beth, sorry about your all your surgeries. And I too wish that I could have been watching when Jonathan first came on or at least fromt time he smacked Maggie and started going nutso! However, the clips from Tex and the ones comedianfan is putting up on YouTube have been a lifesaver. I've got to see a lot of his "crazy Jon" scenes. Now, I'm just waiting for comedian fan to put up some clips of the cave scenes and the "cut the bad out" hospital scenes. Oh, and I was home sick from work the day I discovered the Lavery boys. That was the best sick day of my life. ;D

Although I'm sure hubby was glad I couldn't talk for 2 weeks afterward ;D Yes, Tex and comedianfan have been a lifesaver Eventually I'm sure we will both see what we missed. I think I'll throw a Lavery party that day

Poor Trixie! When appliances revolt it is a sad day for humans! We are so dependent on them that it's a shame. We are having issues with our refridgerator. Since the expense of a new one is large, we keep putting it off. Last night, my husband was mopping up water off the kitchen floor. I'm thinking a trip to pick out a new one is just around the corner! LOL For hot flashes, I recommend estradiol! Early menopause is the pits!!!! The things we endure to reproduce.

Hey, Cindy - When Appliances Go Bad! I'm waiting for this to be on TV any day now. Perhaps it already has been, and I missed it because I was hitting my TV with a hammer and a screwdriver (a screwdriver is my favorite tool, I use it for everything ) Driving home after surgery is one of my favorite things to do. Last year I probably had at least five eyeball surgeries where one side of my face was completely covered in bandages. I asked the doctor if I could actually drive home this way, and he said: "This is California. You can drive home with BOTH your eyes covered in bandages." It's scary, but kind of true
