We have a donut shop that stays open 24/7. They have a few food items such as burgers, but mainly it is a donut shop. Everyone know that is the safest place to be late night/early morning. All the cops go there. It is not unusual to see 2-3 cars parked there at one time.

I guess it is a good thing they do hang out at the donut shop. Some of the strangest, scary people hang out there at night. Even the employees look like they are on "work release". Very scary, but they have the BEST donuts.

Speaking of donuts, I just finished making a batch of "bignets". They are a New Orleans favorite which are fried donuts with powdered sugar on them. I found the fastest, cheapest way to make them. Buy plain store brand biscuits in a tube, flatten each one and cut in 1/2. Fry them for a few seconds until they flip over in the pot, and brown on both sides. Remove them, and sprinkle with powdered sugar. They are great!

Oooh, Barbara...I'm gonna have to try that. My New Orleans born hubby thanks you And Charity, man I don't think I've ever been in a donut shop without a cop. Unless, you count the local ice cream shop that also serves pastries

Yeah, being in a bigger town does make a difference. We have at least 4 major bakery chains in Cincy, in addition to the independently owned ones
