Uh oh, what happened, Elana?? I'm not watching because both my kids are sick. Julia might have strep throat, so I'm a little worried. Hey, Liz...how is Julia today? That strep throat is some bad juju, bless her heart!! Hope she is better today! I watched a little of it on Soapnet last night, and the scenes in the cabin with David & Babe [which is right before I turned it off] was terribly wobbly. And I thought I was bad with a video camera!!! ;D

Both kids still feel like crap, and I'm still waiting to hear if Julia actually has strep throat! Neither kid is sleeping at night, either, so it's been so fun!

Oh, I'm sorry,Liz!! Man strep throat in the summer-10times worse. You're already hot and being sick makes it worse. At least in the winter it's cold....

I saw five seconds flipping channels....it's someone using a hand held camera instead of the usual tripod set up. I guess they want to try a more "realistic" look?

I thought it might be something like that based on the previews from yesterday. Weird camera practicing!

I don't know...I kind of like it, generally speaking. Other shows and movies use it all the time. They use that technique to make the audience feel like they are really more in the scene...traditional camera work puts up more of a barrier between the action and the audience.
It's jarring now because AMC never used it before and are using it in scenes where the actors aren't doing anything but standing there and talking. LOL.

I have poor vision though, and anything that moves like that makes me a little queasy when I have to work so hard to focus.

yeah, i can understand that...I don't know if it works so well with a soap either. It seems really odd when there's no action in the scene to have a hand held camera technique.

right.. under a certain setting it would be powerful... like if it was used in the aftermath of the big boom in feb.. but now its just weird

It's an interesting way to shoot something. I guess they were trying to get more of a reality tv/red carpet feel with the way it's shot and generally I do like this way of shooting but not for a soap opera. It just doesn't fit with what's going on.

well IMO it's okay, and even fitting, in episodes like at the opening today. However, yesterday when it was in scenes with simple dialogue, there was no need to do it. It's inconsistent with the rest of the scenes. Either do the whole episode like that, or not at all.

I was so mad when the movie Any Given Sunday came out. They shot it in Dallas (some scenes) and I was even an extra in the movie (although you can't see me... typical), so I was excited about going to see the movie after watching it being filmed. That was around the time when movies started trying out that shaky camera stuff and the whole movie was just unbearable to watch because of it.
