awww sweetie (((hugs))) though i never said my parents were wonderful. LOL...they're out of their ever loving mind imo. ;D just keep in mind, i was raised by two Marines! i think they did what they think was best but i was very sheltered in regards of simply learning every day stuff. i was beside myself once i moved out on my own. i was clueless. put it this way, i was 21 the first time i put gas in MY OWN CAR and i got a car at 16!

hey - at least i learned not to depend on anyone. tho i'll love to a bit and be pampered but take care of kal and me. and now you ladies know how!!!! and kallie - she does have easy chores. she does dishes but i get them ready and the look clean before she gets them!!!! yeah - i'm a bit of a sucker!! she does have normal chores but they don't take long. she is an A student and has a blast dancing and hanging out with friends!!!!!! but i am a little jealous!!! 21 before putting gas in a car!!! I love it. i was required to know how to change my oil and put on a spare tire before i was allowed to get my license. the tire i get - the oil? ? i'm not a chic you could see changing the oil!!!!!

Good thread ! As usual I`m too late really to paricipate but ............ I feel very lucky to have a 5yr gap between kids right now . Hubby is away and my little 9 yr old has just given his wee sister a shower , brushed her teeth & set her up with the ' Ella Enchanted dvd ! I`m cleaning up after dinner , not being fed peeled grapes, but still he is a wee trouper! Kallie sounds like real credit to you too Charity . Meg , I consider grilled steaks & mac cheese bonafied cooking! I can`t get the timing thing down . My kids have meat , starch & veggies but often in 3 different plates one after the other . It gives a new meaning to 3 course meal . I am seriously thinking of wading back into the AMC board to get some of those recipies that float about! ( If I can sift through the " update on my cat`s liver surgery "threads!) I hear you Liz about the disasterous day time nap thing . Blasted pre schools & their blasted 'rest time" with soothing music ! Jodie finally went down at 10 30pm last night , only to pop back up & settle down on the floor beside my chair as i surf the web ! She is curled up like a little dog with no blanket ! Not my finest mothering moment I must confess . My husband & I both suffered I think from not going through the " independent appartment living " stage . He grew up believing in a laundry fairy who magically filled his drawers with clothes I think & to this day , we both secretly expect the " grown ups" to buy toilet roll spares etc"

Kallie sounds like real credit to you too Charity . if you guys knew me when i was much younger!!! i'm not one to take much credit for anything but i'm learning to because what i've accomplished in recent years comes from strength i didn't know i had. the way my brother and i were raised - well let's say we both broke the cycle. what are the odds that both of us made that choice. he was a wonderful guy and - ok, i'm not wonderful but kallie is very happy, intelligent, and just wonderful. i look in her eyes - even when she is being a tween thru and thru and i wonder how anyone could ever hurt a child. i also must say i find her tween rebellion (which doesn't come out often) amusing because honestly?? there is nothing she can pull that i haven't done and mastered!!!! ;D ;D ok - quick story. her first attempt at a tween fight. i don't allow yelling in my house. she was over tired and overall ticked at life. we were in a homeless shelter (old motel-we had one room) and the fight was over homework she didn't want to do (as an "A" student that doesn't happen too often) but she said "it's a free country and you can't tell me what to do" ;D ;D ;D ;D OMG i fought soo hard not to laugh. told her it's a free country when she turn 18 or moves out of my house!!!! kids come up with crazy things!!!!!!
