It's that time again so pull up a chair and get ready to sit a spell as I throw a few suds your way.
I told you last week that a leading lady had her foot half way out the door at OLTL and now both feet are on the other side. Christina Chambers has indeed been let go from OLTL as Marty Saybrooke. As I mentioned here the past two weeks, we have lots of casting shake ups coming and mainly for OLTL. OLTL will look a bit different here soon with so many exiting the canvas (mainly female). More focus on the vets and a major recast on the horizon. A huge casting upset is about to shake up the show but OLTL has something up it's sleeve so don't be so quick to riot in the streets just yet.
One younger leading lady is being phased out slowly as she has every intention of leaving when her contract ends. Her leading man won't be lonely for long when Gigi comes along (though Gigi may be a mere wrench for now). Either way she's out. ABC is pulling out all the stops to get a certain Buchanan beauty to stick around so they are letting her know how loved she is early because they don't want to blow this one. Could the impossible happen? Can a major return be in the works? From what I am hearing backstage we could be in for a shock or a lot of smoke? I will let you know when the dust settles. OLTL knows that the casting upset to come will be so intense that an olive branch must be extended to the fans but will this person accept now at this stage in the game?
A younger leading actress from AMC may have just gotten a deal she can't refuse so look for her to exit when her contract ends. Sources say the network (another one) will wait to get her for a role they have in mind for a prime time gig that could open many doors for the young talented beauty. Not to be outdone another young hopeful has already been approached for a different gig leaving her excited but apprehensive. This young beauty is not so sure she wants to leave the nest just yet.
(Sounds promising. Should I start making my "Bye-Bye Leven Rambitch" banner?
And on soapy note mixed with a dose of reality, has anyone noticed how downplayed this years "I Wanna Be A Soapstar" has been? Michael Bruno looks wonderful. Hogan and Mary Beth make great additions to the judges panel but the talent is as lackluster as it gets this time around. The boards were lit up last year with talk over each episode and yet this year it's been reduced to a dull roar. None of this years talent really stands out like last year (though Mikey was a huge embarrassment leading to a new system where the fans can actually vote in the finale). Nobody screams "wow" this year. In fact some of the cast is rather annoying to the point of wishing they would get eliminated just to make the show more bearable. The similarity between Monica and Renee Goldsberry was starting actually. They could have been twins. Otherwise this soap diva's just not feeling it this year. I'm still tuning in but barely.
Seeing Jason Shane Scott has been a treat this week on OLTL. For you Brandon Lee fans who are noticing the similarity, you're not alone. Jason has always reminded me of Brandon Lee. Too bad we can't hang onto Scott a wee bit longer. His intensity and strength is needed out there. Lindsay will be carted off to St Anne's but the full story has yet to be told. Sit tight because it's not truly done just yet.
While we're on the subject of OLTL returns this week, what a pleasure it was to see the talented and charismatic Timothy Stickney back again in the saddle again as RJ. When will the brass at ABC understand what they have in their midst? Give the guy a story will ya! The fans love Stickney. Give the guy a full contract and bring RJ back where he belongs!
And for you GH fans who have been hammering at me to watch, I did tune in for the better part of last week. I hate to admit it but for the first time in years I took AMC out of my programming. It's become nothing but a syrupy depressing mess. It leaves me with a toothache with it's candy apple fluff and confection mixed with babies, babies and more babies. I couldn't take it another moment. Not even the lovely and talented Stacy Haiduk could get me to stick it out. I will tune in to see the transition from Alexa Havins to Amanda Baker the day they pull a switcharoo with the "Babe's" but that's about it for now. I must say I am enjoying the despicable Trevor Lansing enormously thanks to the very intense and talented Stephen Macht. At least GH knows what a villain is and has plenty to choose from. A young confused woman who steals a baby then crashes her car does not a villain make (AMC).
That's my rant for this week kids. Onto the scoops and spoils for more on what's ahead!
