Interview with Cady McClain and Carolyn Hinsey from the New York Daily News:
Ghost played by C-C-C-Cady to revisit 'AMC' By CAROLYN HINSEY
"All My Children" is trying to undo the damage caused by Dixie's death last year by bringing back Cady McClain, who played Dixie, as a ghost to comfort her loved ones.
"I was very happy to get the call to revisit this character and her story," says McClain, who reports for work the week of April 7.
The previous writing regime killed longtime heroine Dixie Martin with poison pancakes, an act that enraged fans and derailed the story of Tad and Dixie finding their daughter, Kate. (Kate was given up for adoption and is being raised by Julia, who doesn't know that Kate is Tad and Dixie's child.)
But "AMC" has a new writing team now, and they seem determined to right this wrong.
"The unresolved issue of Tad and Dixie's daughter, Kate, was very frustrating for both the production and the audience, and 'AMC' thinks this might be a good opportunity to heal it," says McClain. "Personally, I couldn't be happier. It's a blessing to be able to fix something that left such a pain in my heart. I really want to bring that gratitude to work, and enjoy every moment."
McClain allows that her 2006 return wasn't as satisfying as she had hoped.
"Dixie was trying so hard to make decisions on her own, instead of leaning on her family and husband for constant support," McClain says of Dixie's reasons for giving her baby away. "Tad did not want her to have Kate because it was a big health risk for her. Her doctor preyed on her fear that if she died , Tad would hate the baby that caused her death. She made the decision to give the baby up alone, under pressure, and it was a mistake. That was an issue that the Dixie of 2006 never got to articulate enough."
Indeed, her first few months back in town were spent spying on her family, and then getting yelled at for having faked her death and given Kate away.
"She was defined solely by her mistake, which really sucked for me as an actress," admits McClain. "There was not enough exploration as to why she did what she did. It was just dragged out for maximum misunderstanding."
Which, let's be honest, is what soaps tend to do.
'I never asked anyone to write Dixie as some kind of saint," adds McClain. "She wasn't. She screwed up and trusted the wrong person, which was true to her character."
And this time?
"I don't think this story is going to delve into any deep psychological issues this time around; she's dead," says the actress. "This story is more about helping the living get on with the happiness in their lives."
Look for Dixie to start doing that May 2.

Paraphrasing the article: Kenlee's preoccupation with Ryan causes friction in their relationships with Z/A and may lead to the outing of "the secret". After Zach tries to get Ryan to remember by showing him video of him almost hitting Greens, Ryan freaks out and so does Kendall. Zach shows him things that nobody else wants to. Kendall is ticked off at Zach for doing this. Greenlee goes to Ryan trying to make him feel better but it comes off like she is making excuses for him and that his behavior is understandable. Ryan see's himself on tape and admits his actions were inexcusable. Greenlee reliving her past with Ryan has her distracted on her date with Aidan and when Aidan proposes, she tells him she isn't ready for marriage. A rejected Aidan gets drunk and shows up on Annie's doorstep. Kendall arrives and in their convo, Aidan lets it slip and says too much about his secret, grief-fueled night with Kendall. Asked if Annie puts the pieces together and tells Zach, TK answers, "There's some really good stuff coming up. Dark, but good".
Erica's story: E/C find shelter in a closed store. They talk about their childhood's and bond. After C falls asleep, Erica manages to get the cuff's off and is going to leave but decides she wants to help Carmen and stays by her own choice. They get to Mondo's home and by the end of the week, Mondo's mom has a gun pointed at Erica.

4/8: Colby's attraction to Frankie grows. JR tells Babe he remembers what Ritchie did to him

Interview with Debbi Morgan, who is enjoying all of her scenes with Darnell Williams...Angie & Jesse will be renewing their vows
Erica will talk the truck driver out of turning them in -- she pretends that he's transporting illegal knockoffs across the stateline. Erica & Carmen hide in a store. Erica grabs a metal nail file & picks the handcuffs' lock when Carmen falls asleep. Erica manages to grab the gun & starts to exit, but turns back when she realizes that she's become invested in Carmen's wellbeing.
Aidan gets drunk after Greenlee rejects his marriage proposal, & later remembers how Annie tried to come on to him earlier. Annie was angry that Ryan was with Greenlee & made a play for Aidan. After a few drinks, Aidan goes to Annie. Annie realizes that Aidan is drunk, & suggests that he go to sleep on the couch. When Kendall arrives, Aidan wonders aloud why he & Kendall feel so guilty when Greenlee doesn't even love him. Annie overhears, & although Kendall explains Annie may be too smart to believe it.
Editorial on Ryan LYING to Annie, & how Ryan should have stopped chasing Kendall, stopped kissing Greenlee, & instead REALLY focused on his marriage & on his child.
Cady McClain (Dixie) returns to AMC to help wrap up the Kate storyline.
Ryan's amnesia storyline is a MISS, with Ryan treating his wife with disrespect as he brazenly pursues another man's wife... w/ Greenlee rewriting past history so that Kendall is evil while she & Ryan are innocent victims...& w/ Ryan having a connection to Spike because he's Kendall's child while not having feelings for Emma because he doesn't love her mother...
Look for Kendall to be furious w/ Zach...Samuel to want to meet Jesse...Frankie & Colby to grow closer...Ryan to tell Greenlee that he'll no longer have contact w/ her...Opal to have bad feelings about Richie...& on 4/2, for Angie to diagnose JR...
The following week, Jack & Zach are on Erica's trail...Angie & Jesse try to have a romantic evening...Greenlee tries to fix things with Aidan...
A viewer hates the sham friendship of Zach & Greenlee..."Real Greenlee" is shallow, self-centered, self-serving, ego-driven - the type of woman Zach has always hated...A viewer thinks the vets should be front & center, & that Erica has chemistry w/ Samuel...a viewer wants Kendall away from the couple-switching mess, & in s/l's that take Kendall forward, not backwards...
