MASTER CLASS: THE BEST OF THE BEST
James Scott, Days of Our Lives
Published: Monday, April 23, 2007
After being wasted on All My Children as Ethan Cambias, tall, dark, and handsome James Scott (check him out in our soap hunk gallery) has found the role of his career as the charming, yet dastardly, EJ Wells (what a fantastic soap name, by the way!).
Reminiscent of a younger Rupert Everett, Scott’s wit, beauty and talent is the only reason we tune in each day, as the soap continues to nosedive in the ratings thanks to uninspired writing. The only unbelievable element in his story? That Sami would want to marry that childish bore Lucas over the delicious British stud that is EJ, whom she wants to kill, not make love to (we’re choosing to ignore the “Did EJ rape Sami?” debacle, so bear with us)!
Alison Sweeney and Scott have chemistry and are destined to take Salem into the next generation, so let’s hope Scott sticks around. It’s rare for an actor his age to elicit this kind of reaction from the press — we have to keep reminding ourselves that this tall glass of water is only 28 years old, yet he reminds us of an established leading man from another era.
Scott’s even made us happy that the DiMeras are back in town — and we thought we’d never say that again. Most impressively, Scott’s talents have inspired a growing and vocal Sami-EJ fan following, which wasn’t an easy task considering the loyal and passionate Lumi fans out there. Finally, memo to Scott: We love the stubble — don’t lose it.
RANT OF THE WEEK: AMC still sucks …
Why hasn’t ABC announced AMC’s new headwriter yet? It’s been weeks since ABC fired Megan McTavish, and while a writing transition does take time, the soap is still in horrible shape — if not worse. What’s taking so long?
