This hot dry weather here in Texas has killed two of my big trees by my driveway & two more are looking puney, I guess that is a word . We are trying to save them but my garden is gone & several bushes I planted have died. The sun is so hot I pray for rain! You lost 2 mature trees? I'm so sorry. I'm one of those people who actually cry over trees when they die or are cut down. I love trees! I hate to see them cut down or die, I used to go around my yard & put those wire things around all the small ones so the lawn mower wouldn't get them. We are trying to water my pecan trees & the others, I have quite a few but we haven't had much rain here. All the lakes are low. August is always hot here in Texas but it seems like it is hotter this time.

I'm so glad to hear someone admit to caring for the "baby" trees. I have a huge black walnut right outside my backdoor and I love this tree but it makes a lot of babies! I've let some of them continue to grow but my lawn's not too big so I can't save them all. Sorry you guys are having so little rain and such hot temps. Ours have been lousy and we've not had very much rain but it's not been as bad as what you guys have been hit with.

We haven't had rain in awhile, although a few days ago a couple of suburbs close by got some drizzle. All that did for me where I am though is make it really, really hot AND miserably humid.
I hear though that we may get a little rain soon, so someone on this board must be doing the rain dance for us!! THANKS!

We finally got some rain today where I live. I hope it rains all night or all week I'm happy & my trees are happy but we still need a lot of rain. I believe Collin County is 33 inches below normal

Thanks LL.............We have to use the soaker hoses around the house when it gets this dry but I didn't have to water my trees tonight, we finally got some rain. I believe I have lost a few trees from the heat & everthing being so dry. It was so nice to see the rain, everyone is so excited

The rain just missed me STG. I'm still waiting. It rained a little where I work though, and we were all making jokes about not understanding what this stuff coming out of the sky was... it's so abnormal to see water in the air... or at all! And we figured "rain" was a mythical creature. I got in my car yesterday and thought to myself that it seemed cooler thank usual. I looked at the temperature... 100 degrees. Well that IS cooler than usual! It was 108 two days before! If it gets over 100 today, they say that will be 39 days of consecutive days with over 100 degree temps.
