My goodness Tex. I admire your search for truth. I would love to do the same thing but I'm a little afraid of what I would hear.
First, I think in order for a video to be truly effective the music must please the ear of the viewer. The music sets the tone for what the viewer feels. So given that, any video will not appeal to all viewers. For myself I do not usually like hard edged music, with the exception of Queen. Who doesn't like Freddie?
Your videos are always good in the flow of clips. Most of the time I see short clips and that keeps the video moving. I often worry that my clips are too long, but I can't help myself. LOL But I get a sense of what you are telling in your video. That means the clips do what they are intended to do...tell a story. A littel aside and please, I hope no one is offended...I have seen videos in the past from a certain rabid fan site and they were excruciatingly bad. They had no theme and were so repetitive in clips that I found them just awful. Of course, the subject matter was sickening in itself so that may have clouded my judgment. But a quality video is good regardless of subject matter.
I really like Juicy. It is fun and lively.
The Lavery Brothers is another good one. I appreciate the story of Ryan and Jonathan, so I am presdisposed to like it, but it is good.
The Ethan video and the Sethan are wonderful. You know the subject matter makes them attractive to me. But the mood of the two is quite different yet they are very powerful. Smooth by Santana just ices the Sethan video. Poor dead Ethan is just too sad.
My favorite of all your videos would have to be "Cracks of My Broken Heart". It has it all. I love it. Music is great. Clip selection is varied and the theme works from start to finish.
My only criticism would be that I don't always like the music you choose, but that is purely subjective and not a negative on your work.
I hope I did not offend you but gave you what you were looking for.

They are all so great!Best Fitting Music Definitely have to give props here to Cherry Pie! ha ha!Best Editing I remember thinking Cherry Pie was done well, with all the different guys Kendall has... um... known. Also Juicy. I LOVED that one! Most romantic I know this will sound funny, but I thought Broken was romantic. Even though it pulled at your heartstrings, it still showed a lot of love. Most heart wrenching - I don't remember which song, but it was one with all three Lavery's, mostly the Lavery brothers and had a lot of clips from the cabin. Most enjoyable Even though I like the softer ones as well, I seem to enjoy the ones that have a touch of fun. Like Juicy and the Sethan one that shows the characters playing around and having a good time.Best overall Tough to pick, but I really enjoyed Juicy. Also, whatever the one was that I saw of the Lavery Brothers. I think there are some on this list that I haven't seen. What is the link again to the page that has all of them? I'll have to go check them out.

Texans - I can only comment on a very short few of your videos, because for some reason I can't seem to get a lot of them on my computer! All around favorite for me is "Juicey". And also "Break Stuff". Great Stuff. Brilliant! "Fix You" was also really incredible! I guess my only complaint would be with Unchained Melody. And that's because my husband and I had it sung at our wedding. So, I guess I just wanted it to be more romantic than what the video showed. Sorry . But everything that I saw looked and sounded great. You do an amazing job on these By the way, WHERE IS SMOOTH? I love that song and didn't see that video. I'm sorry. But where is it? Tex - you're great

smooth can be found here... www.putfile.com/texans08you'll see a pic of tad and simone when you go to that page. Unchained Melody, i chose that song for two reasons, one, I consider it the classic of all classics. Just the "feel" of it is very much the same "feel" that i got from the character of "Ethan". He was so graceful and charming, he seemed very different than the other male "romantics" on the show. Classic, that's the best way for me to describe it. Two, I'm 29, so yes, "Ghost" was one of my first "favorite" movies. So i think i associate the song as...well.."tragically" romantic. That's why there was some much "tragedy" in the video, plus i wanted the main focus to be Ethan himself, not just sethan or kethan. Just to showcase the spirit of Ethan. As Cindy pointed out, music selection is ALWAYS subjective. She, along with others i'm sure, does'nt always care for my choice in music. That is to be expected. I myself have seen videos that I either thought of a song that would have fit better (imo atleast) or that i enjoyed more having the volume down. Again, that's to be expected so i hold no grudges there. Like i said, i'm a lyric person so i try to mix the song and the scenes as accurately as possible. For ME, i think the best song to clips choice that i've done would have to be Jonathan's "Epiphany". If you listen closely to the lyrics, they are DEAD ON. I mean DEAD ON to almost every single scene in the video. That was pure luck. That song, prior to Nova Scotia, made me think of Jonathan. AMC just happened to give me EXACTLY what i needed to make it happen. That tends to happen alot. Same goes for Lonely Boy. I had that song in mind for Rendall BEFORE i actually had all the scenes that would make it work the way i wanted it to. Cindy is right, unless it's just a fun video (Break Stuff and Juicy) i try to tell a story. Sometimes it works, other times, LOL..i have to work a wee bit harder! ;D btw...what videos are you NOT able to view?

Tex, I think you do a great job with all of your videos. You know I am hooked on my Laverys, so I am very partial toward any Lavery video. My favorite is "Epiphany". You are so right. The music and the clips are DEAD ON. I don't think you could have found better clips to match the music. From start to finish it worked! It is also heart wrenching. The Nova Scotia scenes were very emotional. I think this is the best overall video you have done.
I also enjoyed "Fix You". It is a close second to "Epiphany". The clips you selected worked well with the music. The editing was handled well also.
"Juicy" was a fun video to watch. I enjoyed it.
I am not familiar with a lot of the music you select, because I basically only listen to country music, but when I do watch the videos the clips do fit well with the music.
I hope this helps. I am always impressed by your work. Keep 'em coming!

I love your videos Tex! It's so hard to break them down by components because my mood is so mercurial!
I wish I could say that one is better than another or that one was better edited but I have to be honest that when I sit back and watch them I enjoy them too much to watch them critically.
(When I was making mine I was so obsessed with the timing of the clips (I just couldn't get everything I wanted into it!) that I didn't even notice that it was so sad until people started commenting on it.)
Overall: I loved the mini-movie feel of Epiphany, so different! Heart breaking: Fix You and Unchained Melody Enjoyable/fun: Cherry Pie, Juicy and Smooth

thanks guys! i'm just trying to get an overall opinion of what clicks and what does not. i know what you mean soaper. i'm so critical of my videos and trust me, i dont' make them as quickly as it may seem. LOL i usually think of the song first. then, i'll create a folder on my desktop and as scenes become available, that i think would work, i put them in that folder until i feel i've gotten all that is needed. so..sometimes, it takes months! lol...i have three unfinished folders going RIGHT NOW! ;D

I loved "Juicy" "Smooth" "Unchained Melody" and "Break Stuff". In all categories. I can't pick a favorite for whichever category. "Juicy" the song really fit the pace of the video, but I can say the same about "Smooth" "Break Stuff" and "Unchained Melody" It's a tough call for me. I them all!
