Well, Elana - Why would you when you have donuts, for goodness sake. ;D Who needs fruitcake? Trust me, donuts are way better. And they're edible. We don't need no stinkin' fruitcakes.

It's not a gift that should be fit for anyone human, Jewish or not!

I have NO IDEA as to the religious conoctations to fruit cake. Perhaps Tom Cruise could answer this.
Obviously, may centuries ago, aliens descended upon us and pelted us with inedible, cement-laden, green gummy randomly inserted substanced objects in order for us to quietly follow them (the aliens). I'm thinking this actually might be the true story of Fruitcake.
And they lived heftily ever after.

Liz, you know how I aim to please. Not to mention that I am always promoting exercise and good healthy eating habits. So with that, I need to have a big glass of wine and a ciggie. My abs are now suing me for personal abuse. I think they have a good case against me. Even Perry Mason couldn't screw this one up.

thanks everyone! Yeah, I guess I have seen fruitcakes in stores. i've never seen anyone eat it or buy it, though. It doesn't really sound appealing. Why is it associated with the holidays if it brings so much horror and trauma to people?

Niki, how was your party, how was the cake, and how was your cousin you were looking forward to seeing? And the most important question for last: What presents did you get?

Niki, how was your party, how was the cake, and how was your cousin you were looking forward to seeing? And the most important question for last: What presents did you get? My party was fun, the cake was frickin awesome and my cousin is moving back to Miami. He managed to get his diploma ( supposed to get a GED) in 4 months and is moving in with our aunt and cousins to study mechanics And I got over $400 dollars, a necklace, 3 bracelets, tickets to see Shakira on Wednsday and a promise to go to New York for a week in 2007. Not bad!
