It said, and I quote "me-mommy". I thought that quite profound and responded with "Is this a Me Tarzan, You Jane thing?" I hope I wasn't too harsh. I guess I won't hear from her for several months now. Oh well, she has to learn that "me-mommy" is a strange message to send to a 51-year-old daughter. But I still love her. Guess now I know where I got my writing skills from.

My mom just started text messaging and every time she writes: Dear Kelly, this is Mom ... and then she ends every text with "ok. Love, Mom." ;D

Yep, Liz, That was her entire message. "me-mommy". I haven't heard from her since. I don't think she knows how to check her in-coming. And Kelly, my mom ALWAYS leaves a message on my answering machine saying, "HI DEAR. THIS IS YOUR MOM. UM, WELL, OKAY. I LOVE YOU." And she says it in all capital letters, too. Like I don't recognize her voice after over half a century. But it's okay, because when I call her, I always say, "HI MOM. IT'S YOUR DAUGHTER LINDA. OKAY, WELL, I LOVE YOU". And she always asks me why I always leave my name and I say because you have six kids, two of which are male, I'll grant you that, but depending upon my sinus condition, I could be any of them. I just love me mommy.

Awww Trixie , that is such a sweet phone message to get from your mom. I remember mine used to give me a big hug before I left to go 2 mins down to the store .
Mr Skye could never quite figure out why . My inlaws were`nt quite so demonstrative .

Skye, Your mom sounds so sweet. My mom didn't start really being affectionate until the last five years or so. In fact, when I see her now SHE KISSES ME ON THE LIPS! This frightened me at first because my initial reaction was I ALMOST MADE OUT WITH ME-MOMMY! But I got past that and like that she's so touchy-feely now. I didn't grow up with that much unlike my in-laws who practically maul Sonny Boy at the first sighting. I give them a certain look and they give me a little hug, a little air kiss and a pat on the back. I think they think there's something wrong with me.

Yeah she was Trixie . My memories were very important to me because with her alziemers , she didn`t recognise me the last few years . What a perfect description of a restrained greeting ! ;D ;D

Oh, Skye, I'm sorry. I forgot that your mom had passed on. But it's good that you have such nice memories of her. It helps a lot, I think. No regrets and What Ifs. Your mom sounds like she was such a lovely person. And you are, too. You just made me sappy.

...oh dear , I did didn`t I . Better than perky though . Could be worse . I did think of pretending she was still alive but thought it might end badly . Mr Skye was once shamelessly showing off our son carl in the swimming baths . A gaggle of women flocked round him & admired " her" beautiful eyes , blah blah blah .. It went on for a nauseating length of time . He got a few very funny looks when they all saw him change carl`s diaper later . I mean what do you say ? "Sorry I pretended he was a girl"? ;D Still it gave me 10 years of ammunition .

Skye! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Don't ever tell Carl, though! He may start calling himself Carly and ask to borrow your clothes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. In the immortal words of Seinfeld.

oh I get it in all the time trixie " Pass the salt " "speaking of pass the salt , did I ever tell you about the time that......." Not in front of carl of course . Although you`ve made me rethink his nick name now . I seriously call him " Carly boy " Have done since he was a baby! i love Seinfield Trixie . I didn`t discover it til 2002 though , when i first moved from Britain to Texas . Unbeknown to me I was watching old reruns , thinking I`d discovered this new hysterical show . I was most miffed when my friends told me it was finishing ...after 10 seasons! ;D

Don't feel left out, Skye, I never watched it either until re-runs. Except I was determined to watch the last epiode live. I even bought vodka for the ocassion. But we had a very mysterious black-out so my record is still clean. I lived in Berkeley at the time so I'm sure it was some sort of anti-Seinfeld conspiracy. Or maybe they just didn't like George. He wasn't too Berkeley-like, was he? Now Kramer, he would've fit right in. Except when he wasn't Kramer. If that makes any sense.

I know exactly what you mean , being in the Seinfield "enclave" It is very hard to describe to someone though isn`t it ? I tried to Mr skye & left him agog with apathy at the thought of watching it ..
