Skye - I feel for you I also can't have donuts, cookies, cake OR ANYTHING. Not even pizza. And forget ice cream. And that was always my very favorite. Eggs Benedict, italian food with cream sauce and forget french food. And donuts. Man, I miss my Entemanns I am severely latose intolerent. It took two years until I found this out, during which I was thought to have an ulcer, kidney problems and a variety of expensive doctors' visits. It's depressing. I literally drool at Elana's pictures. And sometimes I weep quietly. My husband will try to console me while he's holding a giant slice of pepperoni pizza. I think this is grounds for divorce. I haven't been able to get around it except that when I'm really needing a baked-good fix, I make it at home with all sorts of substitutions. It's just not the same, though I've managed to gain weight, anyway. Elana's pictures are the best. I can taste them. Ah, memories. Trixie I know exactly what you mean about substitutes ! There is a lovely wee lady at the coffee shop who insists on making me gluten free scones for a "treat" . They taste like sawdust and now I` m stuck with them every week cos I`m too craven to tell her . 8- I am SO British still! Still her cakes are good so I get them to take away . I`m glad you found out what was causing your problems . It makes it a bit easier to do a retstricted diet if you can see the good it is doing .....until someone eats a donut in front of you! My little girl is diagnosed now and delights in her " special diet " status at kindy . She tells everyone she can that she is " lergic to flour " I try to tell her the greengrocer doesn`t need to know but she is on a mission to inform !

Elana - Those pictures were, well, they were so good that I just went into a lactose-induced stupor. And it was so worth it, too! At least until tomorrow. Thanks for the memories I miss donuts. And Ding Dongs and Ho Hos. Just to cover all the bases.

So what's the donut for October? Certainly you can come up with a donut to dedicate to this special month.
