Trixie, sounds like a fun neighborhood. I live a few houses down from a "group home" for the mentally retarded. I just hear a lot of inarticulate screaming and lots of moaning. Unfortunately, it's never coming from my house.

LOL, LL!
Most people I know think of my entire town as a "Group Home"! ;D
However, we have some major issues between cars and bicyclists. This is where the more colorful language comes into play.
No offense to any bicyclists on board here, but the ones around here are maniacs. They exceed the speed limits, they don't use the bike lanes (which WE, AS PROPERTY OWNERS HAD TO PAY FOR plus it took an entire year to do), and they run all stop signs and red lights. I'm all for ecology and saving energy, but not at the risk of putting on really tight shorts and nearly running little old ladies over. And getting "hat hair".
At least, this is what I witness around my town.
Also, that if you're taking a walk you must also be talking on a cell phone.
I drove through town the other morning and thought I had entered the Twilight Zone Commercial for Cell Phones. Every single person walking or even jogging on the street had a cell phone glued to their ear.
I was actually feeling a bit hormonal (or lack thereof) and rolled down my window and yelled "CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?"
Okay, my rant is done. Thanks for listening if you did. Thanks for not listening if you didn't.

People can jog and talk on a cell phone? That's kinda impressive and yet also kinda sad.

You have to be somewhat impressed by a person who jogs and talks on their cell phone at the same time. I sit down to talk on the phone and I still get out of breath. But here are the conversations I overhear almost each and every day (because I live on the corner of a major tourist area, I am privvy to all SORTS of stupid conversations). "F" You're kidding me! No, I'm now by the water. "F"! Really? Hey there's boats and all sorts of "S..t out on the water"!. Honk! "Hey, F U! You stupid Bas....d! Repeat ad nauseum. What an intellectual bunch here. No wonder I write the stuff I do.

Oh, I remember that! Wasn't his landlord's name Mr. Johnson? I loved SNL until the mid-nineties. That was when I guess I officially got old. Same with MTV. Rap came, I went. Oh well.

No tourist here, Trixie, so when I hear one side of a cell phone conversation I hear things like, "I'm getting some cheese for dinner" or "You g*ddamn kids better get our asses home before I get there" or my personal favorite (always said VERY loudly) "HELLO, WHAT? I'M AT THE LIBRARY! WHAT? NO, I'M AT THE LIBRARY. CAN I CALL YOU BACK LATER? WHERE ARE YOU? WHAT ARE YOU DOING? I'M JUST ON THE COMPUTER AT THE LIBRARY."

Well, Charity - I'd say you've done well. And yeah, Rap pretty much did me in. I swore I would keep up with music and all but I pretty much gave up when Rap replaced Raggae. Perhaps I'm pathetic, but I'll take Bob Marley any day. Hey, I have to get to bed (what are you doing up so late, by the way?) Good night, all

I wouldn't mind if people talked on their phones in their normal voices but something about cell phones makes people RAISE THEIR VOICES for no apparent reason. I go over and ask them to please speak in a normal tone and they look at me like, "Wudda ya mean, normal tone? This is my normal tone?" Funny thing, I just spoke to you at the front desk when you signed up for a computer and I'm pretty sure you weren't shouting at me. I tend to notice those things.

Bob was a musical god!!! I find "Legend" is the perfect cd to put in when I'm cleaning house. I just dance and clean. Unfortunately, I don't do either on of those things very well.
