Mary-Kate Olsen 'will only speak about Heath Ledger's death if given immunity from prosecution'
Mary-Kate Olsen has refused to talk to federal investigators about Heath Ledger's death unless she is given immunity from prosecution.
The 22-year-old actress was the first person Ledger's housekeeper called after his masseuse found the actor dead in his SoHo apartment.
However she has insisted she will not answer questions about the Dark Knight star without exercising her constitutional right to immunity, according to the New York Post.
Silence: Mary Kate-Olsen has refused to answer questions about Heath Ledger's death
Heath's body was found at his New York apartment in January this year after he overdosed on a mixture of prescription drugs and painkiller OxyContin.
Investigators believe the powerful painkiller may have been obtained illegally and are desperate to find out where it came from.
They contacted Olsen's lawyer Michael Miller asking for the star's help, but he has reportedly not allowed her to talk unless she is given immunity from prosecution.
Asked whether he asked for immunity for his client, Olsen's lawyer told the New York Post: 'We are not going to comment on whether there is a criminal investigation.'
Everyone else connected to Heath has been interviewed by federal investigators.
A source told the New York Post: 'Everyone has been very eager to help, saying what a great guy Heath Ledger was, everyone except Mary-Kate, who has refused to speak.'
