I knew I couldn't get out of it three times in a row I have to report to jury duty on Monday. I called. They said "Don't wear shorts". Hmmmm. Guess what I'm REALLY TEMPTED to wear? Nah, I won't do it. But I HATE JURY DUTY. I HATE THAT THEY TREAT YOU LIKE PRISONERS AND I HATE JURY DUTY. Just had to get that off my chest. Along with about 30 extra pounds. But we'll discuss that later. Anyway, HI to you all. Sorry to bother you. But may I again mention that I HATE JURY DUTY. Gack. I really do.

Trixie, believe it or not, I actually had fun when I had to serve on that case back in the winter. It was a drunk driving case and we found him innocent. He was so relieved. I hope yours is quick and easy.

I don't know how it's possible, but I've never had to serve on jury duty. I'm not sure how random it really is. I have an aunt that's been selected 3 times.

I've never had to serve on a jury either, Beth. I got a letter once telling me to report on such and such a date but then whatever the case was they settled out of court so I was spared. Trixie, I hope your "case" is quick and relatively painless. Good luck and I think after 3 times they should give you a "get out of jury duty forever" card.

I probably jinxed myself saying that ;D I think you're right. The Monopoly principle should apply (you get 3 tries to get out of jail and then you pay ). 3 times in jury duty and you should be good for the rest of your life - or at least be able to pay $50 to get out of it.

There's a big murder trail about to start here and one of my coworkers and her daughter both have been called to appear for the jury selection process. I told Tonya she'd probably be let off the hook because the guy accused is the nephew of one of our other coworkers. It's all a bit weird.

Wow, that's pretty unsettling - to know that someone you work with's family member is an alleged murderer. I wouldn't think she'd have to serve, either. I hope she doesn't anyway b/c that would add even more stress to serving.

It's all a bit weird because this a small county and this case is a big deal. The only thing that makes it a little easier is that they guy is her nephew through marriage. He's her sister in law's son. He "allegedly" stalked, kidnapped, raped and murder this 19 year old girl.

Amy, That guy has GUILTY written all over him. He might even have it tattooed somewhere on his person. Sorry, I know you shouldn't judge a book by its cover (Amy should, though ). But if I were called into jury duty for him, I'd say YIKES as soon as I walked in the door! By the way, I got out of having to serve on the actual jury, but not until 5:00 pm. It wasn't a juicy one anyway, but I still had to wait around the whole day on the COURT FLOOR. My old 1960 and 70s attitude kicks in any time I have to be in a "Legal Courtroom Area". I get all sorts of bad flashbacks and fear that I will get retroactively arrested. It's really not fun for me at all. In fact I hid in the ladies room most of the time and played with the "Electronic Flushing Toilets". Okay, so that actually WAS fun. But not very dignified. But now I have a two year reprieve. By then I can use the "Dementia Excuse" (or the Bad Spelling Excuse ) to not serve. Hopefully by then I have a doctor's note.
