I've been watching Jeff's scenes, and today I couldn't help but nearly spit out what I was eating. "Shayne" was talking about wanting to go back to Afghanistan to "do what he does best - blow things up." LMAO!!!!! It was even funnier b/c I was switching b/w AMC and GL at the time so it was almost like "Jonathan" was saying those lines. If only... ;D ;D ;D Oh, the good ole days

;D Beth, I'm watching Friday's epi online right now and that line cracked me up too! Did I mention that I really, really like the chemistry between Jeff and the actors who play is parents. They seem really natural with each other. And that Kim Zimmer is one hell of a good crier.

The chemistry is fantastic I really like Kim Zimmer, too. It's nice to see a character on a soap that's a mom that ACTS like one ;D And the dialogue seems more natural to me, too. My one nitpick about Friday's ep was, I know "Shayne" isn't totally paralyzed, but... how in the hell was he driving a rent-a-car

Maybe car rental agencies are required to have modified cars for people with disabilities? Or maybe Shayne just rammed his wheelchair into the Hertz guy until he had one modified on the spot for him? ;D

;D ;D ;D Maybe they shouldn't have arrested him for assault/disturbing the peace. The charge should've been assault with a deadly weapon - at least he uses it as such ;D

IRL: 1. He'd have to own the car. It would be heavenly, if people could just "pick up a converted rental". But, that's not happening, as far as I know, in this lifetime. 2. Adaptive conversions (installation of hand controls, etc.) can be expensive, depending on what's is being done. Lori

Maybe car rental agencies are required to have modified cars for people with disabilities? I think, something like that would be covered under Title III of the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act) involving public accomodations. But, and this is a big but, it could be considered an "undue hardship" for a private business. If it happens at all, the likelyhood would be considered on a "case by case basis". "Or maybe Shayne just rammed his wheelchair into the Hertz guy until he had one modified on the spot for him?" ;D ;D ;D ;D Ah if it were only that easy, Amy! Personally, I got a kick out of the line, "I can go from zero to sixty, in about an hour." ;D ;D ;D ;D Lori

Nope you nailed it, Beth. But in this case due to logistics of filming, etc. I think, we weren't supposed to notice. Here's a funny example from a movie titled The Water Dance 1992. Imdb.com/title/tt0105789/Basically, it is one of the most accurate films I've seen, from what I humorously call the 'gimp genre'--- films centering on the portrayal of disabled people---except for one thing. The three principal characters go AWOL from their rehab facility to go see a strip show...The problem is, they steel a van, driving away, without benefit of hand controls. ;D ;D The irony is all of these characters (to some degree) are either paraplegic or quadropledgic...In truth, none of them would be driving anywhere, without the proper equipment. ;D A note regarding GL from 12/22/08: I think, irl, after they were safely off the train tracks, Dinah would have looked for Shayne's car keys, furious as she did so, once he pointed her in the right direction. GL seems to have a lot of great one-liners. I loved Shayne's line to his parents about not knowing what the doctors in Germany said because he didn't speak German.

Awww Dang, I missed that one...On 12/20/08 GL there was a scene between JB & GT at Company (?--I'm a newbie to the show-- is that the restaurant Justin Dees' character owns?) I think, "Dinah" said something about "Shane"--- giving his right arm--- Then, Shayne said. giving her a look, "If I only had one arm, I'd only go in circles." ;D ;D Lori
