Did anyone else watch it? Thoughts?
I'm going to say as a newbie fan, I'm happy that things seemed to end up based on history (from what I gather). I'd have rather had Shayne with Dinah, but given history I'm not too upset about it.
And Josh and Reva... awww! Loved it!

Like you Beth, I started watching when Jeff started with the show. I have to admit I was hoping for an ending that was a wee bit different for Shayne and Dinah...However, that said, Shaynah fans did get lots of wonderful scenes, along the way--Everything from aerson as a 'first date' ;D, to two kickin' proposals.--In a way, the payoff for Shaynah fans came in the days before and including the wedding, imho Ironically, before putting away my VHS tapes of GL, I re-watched Dinah's confession to Shayne and what would come to be the end of the relationship...Wow! Those two acted thier faces off!--At this point if Shayne and Dinah had to end, at least they went out with a kind of bang--excellent performances to the end! (Charles Pratt/AMC Head Writer could take a few lessons from those scenes) I won't comment on Rick and Mindy except to say, they must have had a lot of history together...The same can probably be said for Alex and Fletcher. From Alexandra's reaction, I bet those two, at some point, were really something! I couldn't help get a kick out of Mel and Cyrus--I like how he eventually turned out 'not all bad'--- Dang! He made her cookies... Then, he made her day! ;D They were so cute! ---Is it safe to assume Mel is normally more cautious when it comes to liasons/romance? For me, Bizzie is Bizzie--They went the way I figured they would... I actually liked Daisey & James more so in the last episode--At first we see James shy. barely able to tell Daisey he loves her. :lovelove: Who wouldn't clam up with all of her family there at what was for them a very personal and important moment. Cut to a year later--unabashed, yonng love...That really worked for me, more than I expected. Reguarding Jeffery---I have a bias here. Not a big fan, so I'm not all that invested. At one point, I was sort of hoping Jeffery would fall off a roof top, while chasing Edmund. Having those two play perpetual “cat and mouse” is ok, with me. Jeffery keeps "Evil Ed" away from Springfield and all is (basically) well. –Personally, I love it when you can’t keep a (well written) villain down…Thank you, David Andrew McDonald! On to Reva and Josh (Why did she call him "Bud"--My knowledge of their history is really sketchy, at best) That said, I immensely enjoyed the parallel drawn between Josh, Reva ,the lighthouse and the classic film “An Affair To Remember” (Meet me here in a year--I know, in the movie it was 6 months, but I couldn't help seeing a comparison with one of my favorite Cary Grant movies! ) . Yes! They rode off, ready to face any “ adventure”, that came their way. Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman worked amazingly well together. Some of their scenes together made me wish I’d started watching GL, years ago!—

I thought the finale was excellent. The entire final week was, really. I'm very happy overall with how they wrapped up the show.
And I especially loved the Josh and Reva ending!!!

I was also a newbie, watching after Jeff joined. I really loved the way the last few episodes were handled. My friend Joyce at work has watched GL over 35 years. She was my "go to' person for GL. This week I was constantly asking her who the characters were. There were so many people from the past returning for the final week. I did ask her about Alex and Fletcher. It seems they were really in love, but he was at odds with Alan, and he broke them up. I think one of the biggest shocks was that Alan died. I did not see that coming.
I love the fact that Reva and Josh ended up together. I never was a Jeffrey fan, and I always hoped Josh & Reva would reunite. It was Still sad to see the show end, but I am glad it ended in an upbeat way, showing everyone a year later.

I didn't really expect Alan to die, either. But I had a feeling it was coming. I only vaguely remember Alex with Fletcher, so you actually know more about their history than I do. ;D The only Fletcher pairing I really remember was with Holly, which would've been around the early-mid 90's.

Proboards ate my last reply, so let me try again... Why did Reva call Josh 'Bud'? I never did quite figure that out. (Still cute though). I couldn't put my finger on it, but I never was a big Jeffrey fan. Maybe it was b/c Reva had loads more chemistry with Josh Needless to say, I loved their ending. Poor Alan...I hate to see a good villain go down. At least Edmund is still theoretically running around I was totally lost too when the older characters started coming back. I'm glad GL did that though. Perhaps AMC should take a page from GL when it comes to paying attention to its history (yeah right, like that's gonna happen ) Overall, I was pleased and happy for the longtime viewers.

Honestly, even I don't know why she calls him Bud. ;D I always assumed it was a childhood nickname back in Oklahoma. I've never been 100% sure so don't quote me on that.

Kinda like how Hockett got his nickname is a mystery? I still don't understand that one, either. But I rolled with both scenarios b/c they were so endearing Gotta give it to GL's writers - the last spoken word was perfect! Always...awww!

I'm glad i wasn't the only one to ask why Reva called Josh "Bud"...I knew Hockett was Jonathan's childhood nicname on AMC, but I must have missed the episode that gave the explanation.

Brandon and Lori - I love both your new siggys!!! I don't know which is better - the Lavery brothers side by side or three Emmy pics of Jeff (one for each year he should have won)
