Who watched?
I have it recorded and hope to watch it tonight. I didn't get a chance yesterday. What did you think?

I've heard mixed reviews. I don't want to spoil it, but it seems like some characters were given more time - and some not at all in the flashbacks. Honestly, I don't know how they could squeeze 40 yrs into an hour. Too bad it wasn't all week...

Well, I guess it depends on one's perspective. Considering these episodes were produced while Pratt was still at the helm, the whole thing could have been a lot worse.
That said, if the anniversary episode(s) would have been written by a more experienced team. meaning one who knew a soap from a hole in the ground, Beth is correct. The anniversary could have been covered in a weeks worth of shows.
Bloggers over at the Pine Valley Pod Cast blog even suggested that since Joe and Ruth Martin are leaving, clips could have been presented as if they were like home movies, in a way. This may have provided the shows writers greater opportunity to explore more of AMC's founding characters and history.
But, Pratt being Pratt used the opportunity to give exposition/background pertaining to future storylines.

I liked that they did it as a show on the city, so that it allowed old characters to make a return. If it were home videos, there wouldn't be that big of a need to bring them back - just show old clips of them.
I was really disappointed in the downplay of Tad & Dixie.
