That was a sad, sad day for Dallas fans. But, from what I've heard The show gave JR a sendoff Larry Hagman would have been proud of.

Yeah, so sad. Just saw that the sendoff airs Monday. DVRing that for sure. I have to confess something: I actually know him more as Tony Nelson because, being a 90's kid I never really got to watch Dallas, and I Dream of Jeannie reruns were plentiful thanks to Nick at Nite (still one of my favorite shows). I knew next to nothing about Dallas or JR until years later. I led a sheltered life.

Hey, Brandon! My viewing of the original "Dallas" was similar to yours. For me, the show was a really big deal around the time I was in high school. All of my friends watched. So, when everybody wanted to know "Who shot JR?" I finally 'caved' and watched a few episodes. My best friend, who was a huge fan of the show, finally got me to watch a Soapnet marathon, a few years ago, when the dvds came out...That was my basic tutorial. The cool thing about the TNT series is you only have to know the rudimentary history of the original, to get up to speed with this latest incarnation. And even then, the current series is very good at clarifying 'family history'. Honestly, I wish some of daytime soaps had been as careful in referencing the past. More people would have most likely stuck with shows we can only remember fondly, at present.
