I thought that Jeff said (on Soaptalk) that he always knew that he was coming back, that they weren't really planning on killing him off for good?

I think they seriously miscalculated how hard they would have to redeem Jonathan. TPTB acted like they had an uphill battle, when really, most fans just wanted the old edgy jon back. There was no need to make him so angelic.

I agree. There definitely was no need to make him Mr. Nice Guy.

I thought that Jeff said (on Soaptalk) that he always knew that he was coming back, that they weren't really planning on killing him off for good? I think they decided half way through his run that he was coming back, so they told Jeff that. LOL. From what I understand, Jonathan originally was going to be killed off. His storyline really took off, and he got an emmy nom, so they decided to keep him before they started with the cave storyline. So he always knew he was coming back near the end, but at the beginning...he was supposed to be a goner.

Honestly for at least the first 6 months of him being on the show, he did nothing. He really was a throw-away character for the longest time, and it was obvious. I heard that Jeff pleaded with them to give him something to work with to prove himself and they gave him the abuse storyline with Maggie. That's when Jonathan really started to take off, because Jeff played it so well. Prior to that he was really just a Ryan Yes-Man.

Poor Jonathan. I would have loved to see the infamous romp with Kendall, though.

Poor Jonathan. I would have loved to see the infamous romp with Kendall, though. LOL You didn't see the romp, I think you only saw the aftermath. I don't really remember, but I think you only saw Ryan barging in and staring and saying "uh, JONATHAN?" ;D

Elana, surprisingly, I never saw Jonathan (or Jeff) that way. I never cared to see him shirtless, for some reason. I just like him.
Minkie, so I guess I didn't really miss anything, huh??

No, it really was a quickie in every sense of the word. Kendall called Ryan over on purpose to make him jealous and then she looked like an idiot when it came out that he was Ryan's brother.
What an introduction to Jonathan....LMAO

ok..long post warning! Jeff was initially brought on for TWO reasons. One...to add some spice to that walking coma we call "Rylee" and Two..he was to be the stepping stone to the long awaited BAM reunion/exit. for quite awhile, like minkie said, he was window dressing. nothing more, nothing less. He kissed Ryans ass, made greenlee suspicious and was used for the classic soap, "i'm alone, so i'm going raise one eyebrow to make the viewers wonder what i'm REALLY up to." If memory serves, he was to be there approximately three months or so. The domestic storyline was'nt the original plan, he and maggie were to hook up and it would ultimately send binx and maggie into one anothers arms. Jeff begged and pleaded to be given something meaty. Something to where he could showcase himself in hopes that they would keep him around. The domestic violence storyline was born. with that storyline plus the truth serum storyline, the Jeff support started flooding the studio and it caught them off guard. Then the emmy nom as well..what to do? they had to address what they had already done with him and initially, it was going well but it spiraled out of control and became a mess. Frons likes to say that it was the plan all along, that they never intended to release Jeff. Personally, i thought it was BS. If you think back, this info did'nt come out til after the explosion. All of a sudden, they started getting extremely lucrative offers for Jeff from rival networks and also, OLTL and GH wanted him. There was a strong chance that he was going to be the new "Joey Buchanan" on OLTL. The role that GH wanted him for was never mentioned. Jeff himself said, when he first came back, that he was scared that he no longer had a job. They actually taped scenes where he raped Greenlee prior to his demise but in the end, cut those scenes. Therefore the idea that to bring him back was always the plan is false. As far as what Jeff said on Soaptalk, well..they tell the actors what they can and cannot say..that's all i'll say about that.

They were going to have him rape Greenlee? Woah. What, now that she's part of the Kane family it was her turn too? That's just gross.

Good for Jeff for not wanting to do those scenes.
