>:(This show is constantly implying or out right stating that adoption can never really be a good thing because the child will grow up and be all f*cked up and feel rejected and blah, blah, blah. While I'm sure this is true for some adopted children I just can't believe that it f*cks them all up soo badly. Kendall's little speech today about adoption to Erica kinda pissed me off. Just because Kendall was too much of a whiney butt to appreciate a loving home doesn't mean that all adoptees are destined for family therapy. I hope that a bunch of adoptees write the show and tell them to stop slagging off on adoption!

I know it's really sad...I mean Tad was adopted I don't see him complaining. And from what I understand, that whole storyline way back when was very good and very pro-adoption, since Tad was being abused as a child.

I'm surprised they haven't received a lot of negative response to their treatment of adoption. Of course, maybe they have and as usual don't give a crap about what the viewers think!

Minkie -
Tad's adoption story was done very well. His whole situation made a very good case for adoption as I recall.
I don't know what has happened. But ABORTIONS, not terminations AND adoptions were considered options at one time. Now it will all bite you in the heiney.
And LL - I agree. I don't know where all this bitterness about being adopted has come from, but it seems to have been a staple on soaps for quite some time now. Why is adoption suddenly deemed to be a BAD thing? I certainly think this is ridiculous. And mean-spirited by the way.

I can't help but wonder if they're aren't viewers who are adopted who are thinking to themselves, "Gee, I've always felt loved and wanted. Is there something wrong with me because I'm not full of rage and self-pity?"

i know a couple people who are adopted. one choose to find her birth mother when she was older and one decided not to. in both cases they say their mom and dad are the ones who raised. who loved them - who stayed up all night when they were sick. who grounded them for coming home drunk too young. unfort. there are bad adoption situation but there are a lot of bad situations with regular bioligical parents. i'm not sure why adoption is bad when soo many people want to love a baby and so many people don't want their child. it's about an hour too early for me to watch today's amc. so if annie's daughter is kate - WTF? if she adopted her on the up and up? but tad never signed away rights. i can see one screwed up 20 yr old over this and with soras it should only take a year or two for her to make it to 20!!!!!! hell - spike will be 10 in about six months!!!!!!!!!

re Tad giving up rights- the adoption was in swtizerland, who knows what the laws are there. It is also possible for the mom to say "the dad is unknown" (remember Dixie and Tad weren't married at the time) and the courts to formally sever the unnamed/unknown father's rights.

oh, and back to topic- in the original SL Kendal's mom and dad were great people. Anyone remember.... wasn't it Jeff who was originally going to adopt Tad? Ray Gardner had beaten him and broken his leg and abandoned him in the woods and Jeff and his girlfriend found him? It was only later that he went to live with Joe and Ruth and that they adopted him.

I really don't like the biology is destiny stuff on AMC, which is what the adoption idea really ties into I think. Josh is a "great" doctor because he's a Martin, and he's fiesty because he's a Kane. Yeah whatever. JR is "evil" because he's a Chandler. Colby is "evil" or a "schemer" because she's a Chandler. That Greenlee had to have RYAN'S baby instead of just adopting a child they could share. That Ryan had a vasectomy because of his "evil" genes.
Yes family members should have some similar traits but this is ridiculous. Your personality has just as much to do with how you were raised as your genetic make up.

Jamie is turning into a Garnder and not an English or a Martin

ya know - ryan getting fixed upset me greatly. details aren't really important but i could write a book on my childhood and i am fine. broke the chain because i wanted to.
and for kate's adoption. what are they going to do? tear a 4 yr old from the only mom she know's?? 4 year olds are not idiots!!!! i don't know - if they are all in america and if dixie lied on the birth certificate that could changed a hell of a lot. grrrrr

Well just because she's the only mom Kate has known doesn't mean Kate should stay there. Kate was illegal adopted out, since Tad never signed his rights away.
I dunno, I don't like the idea that Tad in particular (Dixie gave her away, forget her) loses Kate just because four years has passed. That's not his fault.

Well, if Emma is Kate then it will work out perfectly. Terry the slime won't be in her life so her real dad can be. Dixie can just lurk in the background and watch Tad help raise his daughter.

This Emma, who we never see or hear from, is I think just who Annie says she is. This is way too easy to make her Kate. Personally, I don't think Kate will be found for years. This is just too convenient and not to mention stupid. And when she's found she will be 26-years old. I'm convinced that this story will continue for at least five more years. With lots of ignoring about Kate. Frankly I don't even care about her. This is JMO, but I'm the old yoda-person here and I say that Emma is NOT Kate and that the writers are as usual grabbing things out of the seat of their pants. This is not a very good visual, by the way. So don't look if you have a weak stomach. I'm probably wrong, as I usually am, because I tend to give the writers just a teensy, tiny bit of credit for being creative. My mistake.
