It depends on a lot. What type of jam. How much the fruit cost, the sugar, did I need pectin? How did I pick up the jar? If I really went nuts I could make a slight profit for quite a lot of effort. But it would be so much work I wouldn't like doing it anymore.

I'm originally from Texas, so San Fran was a shocker my first year, but it's a great city. LOL! I know of the shock of which you speak! SF can be a very "interesting" city, especially if your not from California.

y'all are making me so jealous. I'm just a boring stay-at-home mom.... Are you jealous of people calling me daily bicthing because they waited until the last minute to do what they had 6 months to do & it's now MY fault? ;D I swear, people need to remember that you get more bee's with honey than with vinegar. I wish I could stay home....don't necessarily want the kids, I just want to stay home. ;D

I'm jumping in here. DON'T ask me why. First of all, Platinum - Harry IS A GREAT NAME. Second only to HARVEY, of course. ;D Texans - Your daughter's middle name? Michael? Well, that's one of my favorite names ever because it is my brother's name and I absolutely adore him And Meg - GO FOR IT! You are a lucky person to have all this time ahead of you. As far as stay-at-home-moms? You guys are awe-inspiring. Really. I have tried to imagine myself in your situation, and I JUST GET LOST! Bless you. And a BIG I think your chilldren are incredibly lucky.

LOL!! I was kidding about the Harry thing, I just thought that would be a funny name for a little girl. ;D
On the self-promotion, when I was in college, I was pretty hard up for cash (books alone were outrageous!) and I paint. So on the weekends, I would paint pictures on canvas, then take the price of the canvas, and add in a set amount for paint and materials that I came up with and I would add some for my time and sell them to people I worked with. It was fun!
People started asking for certain things in certain colors, etc. Which I loved because it was really nice to paint a picture when you knew it was already sold, ha ha!

DAMN!! I missed the whole conversation about being a stay at home mom???!!!! I'm so mad! That's what I do, too, and it's really hard. I find it really hard because I'm very social, and I feel isolated sometimes. Plus, my kids are 4 and 20 months, so it's hard to get out and find things to do. I tried going to the post office, and I had to spend the majority of the time trying to catch Vince as he ran around. It sucked. Needless to say I left in a hurry. I don't feel awe inspiring at ALL, Trixie! I guess my kids are lucky that I'm home, but it's pretty hard for me. I hate cleaning all the time because 5 minutes later it's a mess again, so what's the point? I could go on and on (and ON!!). Things will get better once Julia is in school for more than 2 1/2 hours, 2 days a week! It's a lot easier with one! Plus, Julia is a super genius (I'm not kidding), and gets VERY bored, VERY easily. I'm teaching her to read right now, because that's all that's left to teach her. She learned to write all by herself when she was 3, and knows basic math, so that's what she still needs to learn. I could go on and on all day, but most people here probably actually have a life and don't want to read my novel! ;D ;D ;D

Stay at home moms have a rough job and I admire you guys fo it. I don't know how you guys do it quite frankly. I don't think I would have the patience or responsibilty involved. In no way do I think you guys have an easy job- you probably have the hardest. You guys are great!

Sometimes I think kids are so cute as a defensive weapon. That way we don't kill them!

It's the only thing that works. I'll tell Vince not to do something, and he'll just turn around and smile at me. He's so cute, and I forget about being mad, but only for a minute! ;D
