Mine are 10 (Miriam) and 8 (Abram). I loved being a stay-at-home when they were young.. but now with them in school it's harder to feel useful. Does that make sense?

thanks flail! her middle name is Michael, after her daddy Elana..yes..that does make sense. With Kennedy, though she goes to preschool half of the day, she's still very dependant on me so i always have something to do. besides amc, what do you like to do? read, write, dance, garden? now is the time to take some of yourself back. your kids are in school full time, take advantage girlfriend!

Elana it is so true that stay-at-home moms are very important. I wish I could financially. I would stay at home with mine.
If mine's a girl, i'm going to name her Harry.

actually we have very little money.. especially when my daughter was born. I know ever single money-stretching tip out there. We were well under the poverty line for several years when they were little. Math-wise it was more expensive to go to work and have an infant in childcare then it was to stay home.

I crochet, braid rugs, make jam, just taught myself to knit. I read a lot, and watch entirely too much TV. And now I'd addicted to posting on message boards and entering sweeps online.

y'all are making me so jealous. I'm just a boring stay-at-home mom.... Okay,I'm jumping in late here and am backtracking, but, elana being a stay at home Mom is probably anything but boring. I bet you have your hands full with things I can's comprehend or do well. And trust me the life I lead is anything but exciting. I go to school (I'm on break now) and I go to workshops and go home and do projects or sketch. My life is my art and that's it. I hope to get some resemblence of a life after college but if I work at a big company...who knows. I mean I date every now and then but I', usually stuck with clingers and I'm a bit of a commitment-phobe, so it's not all that great. I enjoy my life, but it is rather dull....

see..there ya have it! do you go to craft shows? also, take my gym for example, they allow locals to display their items for sale. hand made jewelry, rugs, quilts and so on. If you can do all of that, there is money to be made.

Tex, Kennedy is a beautiful name and cute too. If I had a child I'de probably screw it up by naming him or her- I'm sooooo bad with names, it's not funny.

how so? hell..you could sell your jam! i won't lie, i have a woman down the street that i buy homemade jams and preserves from, not to mention home made tamalies! If you can braid a rug, you can sell it. trust me, if it's hand made, it will sell. It's something you obviously enjoy doing so why not? put together a small basket of say..three types of jams and give it to..the tellers at your bank, your mailman, your hair dresser..whom ever! drop a card in there and ask them to spread the word. Trust me, i degreed in promotion

the problem is that it would cost so much to produce the jam that I'd have to charge a ton to break even. But I do give it as presents a lot and donate some for a fundraider-auction at my kids school.
