You all knew it was coming. I am SO TIRED of this summer heat and summer humidity!! We are currently experiencing a COLD FRONT and it has DROPPED to the MID-NINETIES!!!!Relief will come later this week in the way of rain, where the temperature will drop to the low nineties and the humidity will be so bad that everyone's hair will curl and our skin will have that lovely sheen of water from the air hanging on us. The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that this type of air is great for the skin and pores... (with the exception of all the pollution)... and that living in a sauna may actually help me lose a few pounds.

Mostly, we stay indoors... ha ha! And kids play outside at night. And people end up getting up to leave for work earlier so they can beat the heat.
And no one goes to baseball games... but wait. That could be because the Texas Rangers suck.

I don't trust summer people. There's something wrong with a person who can be chipper when it's 105 degrees. I say, "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"

I hang my head in shame because I'm about to say something bad... Okay, here goes... It's 68 degrees here. There, I said it. Sorry! I used to live in Phoenix, AZ when I was a kid (about three hundred and twenty-three years ago) and we also stayed inside all day. At around 11:00 pm you could hear the adults sitting on their porches (or in their hedges, depending upon what they've been drinking all day) and the sound of roller skates up and down the streets. Then we'd all talk about the latest episode of the Twilight Zone or Alfred Hitchcock Presents and go inside and pee our pants from fright, and then pretend to be asleep. By the way, I always remember hot summer days with giant Slurpees (before they were even introduced to California) and Herb Alpert. Oh, and Barney Fife. Just thought I'd throw that one in there.

I love the Texas Rangers, even though they're like a million games out of 1st place.

Trixie, it's 66 here. Andrew's company has given him a chance to move to Phoenix, but we aren't doing it. Julia would be miserable (she wants to live at the North Pole, she tells us), and there is no way I'd want to live somewhere that is that hot. I'm sure it's pretty, but I need more than pretty. How did you like it there??

Liz, I don't ever remember Phoenix as being pretty. Pretty hot. Pretty polluted. Pretty hot. Danged hot. Pretty danged hot. Hot tar on the street-inhaling hot. It was hot. Just in case I forgot to mention that. It was pretty danged hot. I think Julia has the better idea Pack up the parkas! It's more fun trying to stay warm than it is trying to stay cool.

Hey, snow is a gift from God. I'm convinced of that. And if there's no snow in heaven then I don't know how it can call itself heaven.
