OMG MINKIE!!! I LOVE Les Miz!!! I've never seen it though!!! *sobs* I have the soundtrack memorized though. Last time i was in NYC it was still running, but i chose to see "The Full Monty: the musical" instead of Les Miz! The good thing, Full Monty was phenomal, and hilarious! The bad thing, Les Miz closed the next month!!! *tear* So i never got to see it!! On the BRIGHT SIDE! It is Re-opening in NYC for 6 months only, starting this november, i believe! Les Miz was back here for only a month and I really considered seeing it again but couldn't convince myself to actualy see a play five times. LMAO. Honestly by the fourth time I was looking for the little neat things the actors do in the background because I knew everything else. I have the soundtrack, I've seen that 10th anniversary thing (I didn't think it was that great.....they just sing. They don't do the rest of it), I've read the book (its actually quite a bit different from the play), everything. By far the best play out there.

Les Miz is great - I saw it when the traveling group came to Dallas. I will always have a place in my heart for Phantom of the Opera though. It was one of the first musicals I saw as a child (other than some random local shows), and I've seen it numerous times since in three different states.
When I come out of the theater, my knuckles are white from gripping the seat so hard... and I totally know what's coming next!

I've seen Phantom (kinda hard not to when it plays in your city for 10 years straight) but I saw it when I was really young and don't remember parts of it. I just remember the masquerade part, and the graveyard scene because I couldn't understand why the tombstones were so big. LOL. (I think I was 8 years old or something)
I've seen a ton of plays and musicals but Les Miz will always be my favourite.

I'm suprised you didn't remember the chandelier falling. When I was really young, that part really stuck with me. I don't know why.

Phantom was the first show I saw on Broadway, and i remember every second of it. I was literally directly under the center of the chandelier. It was so friggin awesome! I was spoiled after that. While i've loved every other broadway show i've seen, none were as good as my first. (wow, that last part could be applied to many things! okay, i'm being bad...)

Another thing about Phantom that I've always loved is the score. I have the CD and while I may sing off key, I know all the words. It's so pretty!
(P.S. don't tell Simon, Paula and Randy) ;D

Did anyone see or like the Phantom of the Opera movie?

I saw it and it was o.k. It was definitely a pretty movie. But it takes a lot of the magic out when you don't see it live I think.
Anyone who sees the movie should treat themselves to a live performance at least once.

I saw the movie. I thought it was very good for a movie version. Probably the best they could do. Of course the stage version is going to be the best. I thought Emmy Rossum was phenomenal as Christine. She is so beautiful, and has a killer voice. I didn't like the Phantom at all though. Patrick Wilson was pretty good as Raoul.

New batch because my head is pounding and I can't concentrate enough to really work. Boo. People do really strange things for entertainment. Some friends convinced me to try rock climbing this weekend. Me. The laziest, most out of shape person you can find, climbing some fake wall and nearly killing myself. I went and realized that this is one of the strangest things to do for "entertainment." It's HARD. And my knees are black and blue now from banging against the damn "rocks." I would take going to a movie over rock climbing any day of the week. And of course the next day, aside from being bruised, my arms all felt like I pulled them out of their sockets or something. Very sore. And what was on the agenda for that day? a WEDDING. Thank god my gown covers my bruises. LOL. That would have been embarassing. Jewish Weddings are funny things. Aside from my grandmother talking through the ceremony and correcting the Rabbi (that was sooo embarassing, I was sitting beside her), you have the usual dancing the Hora and all that. It's funny to try to dance the Hora in a long dress and heels. It ain't easy. I wonder how many people know that the song they play at hockey games? That's the hora. That's right, we are trying to take over hockey. muhahahahahhaaha. And it sounds exactly the same as the Greek hora or whatever they call it...I wonder if that came from the same source originally. It was a weird wedding too....my second cousin was the groom, he came down the aisle to traditional music and all that...his bride came down the aisle to some disco music that sounded like Shaft. I swear to god. We were all just sitting there blinking. And she had an interesting dress but her bridesmaids! Oy Vey. It should be a crime to make someone have a dress made out of ugly fabric. Oh and instead of wedding cake they had cupcakes. It was cute. Anyway the whole thing made me think that sometimes, making a statement really isn't better than going with the tired but true. If I ever get married, darnit I want traditional music, nice bridesmaids dresses and a real wedding cake. No eating cupcakes to Shaft music for me, thanks. Anyway today I woke up and had a massive headache and my arms still friggin hurt, not to mention my bruises. Fun fun. I can't even get work done. And dammit I didnt even get drunk at the wedding. No fair. It's a hangover without the benefit of being drunk in the first place. The moral of the story: rock climbing is evil, especially before weddings. The end.
